Report: Hanley Ramirez Agrees To Five-Year Deal With Red Sox
BOSTON (CBS) -- A busy weekend for Ben Cherington ended with the Boston GM landing one of his top targets.
According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, free-agent infielder Hanley Ramirez has agreed to sign with the Boston Red Sox.
The deal, according to Rosenthal, will pay Ramirez roughly $90 million over five years.
UPDATE: Rosenthal revealed the final terms are four years, $88 million with a fifth-year vesting option.
Ramirez, who will turn 31 in December, will be returning to the organization that developed him. The Red Sox signed him as an international free agent back in 2000, rising through the ranks and making his major league debut with Boston in 2005.

But in the 2005 offseason, the Red Sox traded him to Florida as the centerpiece of the trade that landed Boston pitcher Josh Beckett.
Ramirez is a career .300 hitter with an .873 OPS.
He has played both shortstop and third base in his career, though he's primarily been a shortstop.
The Red Sox also reportedly signed free agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval to a five-year deal on Monday morning.
