Curt Schilling's Son Accidentally Brings Plastic Grenade Through Logan Security
BOSTON (CBS) – Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling was involved in an airport delay created when his son accidentally brought a plastic grenade through security.
Schilling tweeted about the incident Saturday morning, writing that his son told him as they were going through airport security that he left the toy in his bag.
According to Schilling, the conveyor belt bringing the bag through the x-ray machine stopped, the bomb squad was called in and other travelers in line were moved about 50 yards away.
"Police, TSA could not have been cooler once they realized what was happening," Schilling tweeted.
Massport confirmed that the incident did happen at Logan Airport, and said safety to passengers and employees is top priority.
The former Red Sox pitcher, who helped the team win the 2004 World Series, is currently baseball analyst for ESPN.
