Krug On Return To Bruins Lineup: 'I'm Just Happy To Have A Pinky'

BOSTON (CBS) - Defenseman Torey Krug not only returned to the Bruins lineup Monday night, he also returned to the Sports Hub airways after his two-week hiatus from injury!

Krug is a regular guest of the Gresh & Zolak program, but because of his finger injury fellow blue liner Dougie Hamilton helped fill the radio void. Hamilton did an admirable job in substitute, but it was good to have Krug back Tuesday afternoon.

The 23-year-old was sidelined for almost two weeks to the day after he suffered a gruesome finger injury against Minnesota on October 28.

The injury came late in the third period of that game when Krug was slashed by Wild forward Zach Parise while taking a shot from the point.

Krug received over 21 minutes of ice time in his return to action Monday night -- a 4-2 win over the Devils at TD Garden.

During his radio appearance, Krug admits he's just happy to be back in one piece.

"It felt like my finger exploded," Krug said of the October injury. "But within ten minutes everything was numb. The doctors and the medical staff did a great job of fixing me back up and I'm just happy I still got a pinky."

Hockey players.

"Does it look like a Frankenstein finger right now?" asked a curious Scott Zolak.

"It's definitely not perfect. It's not beautiful. Hopefully one day it gets back to looking normal, but for right now I'm happy with where it's at. They did a great job."
