Keller @ Large: Don't Be Part Of The Problem - Vote

BOSTON (CBS) - It's a beautiful day out there, perfect for dropping by your local polling place to cast your vote. The secretary of state is predicting a turnout that shouldn't mean long lines, so you can pop in, vote, and get on your way in next to no time.

Easiest thing in the world, and your civic duty, too.

No problem, right?

What's that?

You aren't sure if you'll bother to vote today? You're too busy? You're turned off by the ads? The system is rigged, and all politicians are alike, so your vote really won't matter anyway?

If this sounds like you, what an embarrassment.

Let's start with the ballot questions.

Do you care how much you pay to fill up your gas tank? Do you care about the condition of the roads and bridges around here? If you answered no to both questions, then fine, stay home and let others decide Question 1 for you.

How about casinos? Corruption and gambling addiction don't concern you? How about thousands of decent jobs going elsewhere? No, you're right, nothing at stake in Question 3.

And then there's the new governor, who will have a major say in every aspect of your life for the next four years at least. Baker, Coakley, Falchuk, what difference does it make, right?

They're all the same.

In fairness, maybe it's not that you're apathetic, but you just haven't had time to get up to speed on the campaign, despite the mountains of info we've been dropping in your lap for the past year or so. You could still hop online and in about 20 minutes get enough of a grasp to make some choices.

Can't swing it?

I understand, really.

And you need to understand, you're part of the problem, not the solution.
