Daily Talker: Mandatory Medical Tests

A major company is making headlines this morning for a program that penalizes workers who refuse to take medical tests. The policy by Honeywell Inc. tests blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose, and checks for signs that an employee has been smoking. Employees who decline to take the tests could be fined up to $4,000 in surcharges and increased health costs. The policy also includes spouses of employees who have the same insurance. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission asked the judge to block the program but that judge refused, allowing the policy to continue in 2015. Do you think companies should be allowed to penalize workers who refuse to take medical tests?
