Phantom Gourmet: Upscale Sweets And Treats

BOSTON (CBS) - Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet is on the hunt for some more upscale sweets.

Sweet in Worcester is an upscale boutique bake shop, restaurant, and cocktail lounge that's famous for chocolate-stuffed French donuts, created by Chef Alina Eisenhauer years before anybody ever heard of a "cronut".

"It's croissant dough, stuffed with dark chocolate, and then deep fried. So it's basically a deep fried chocolate croissant. I could never take them off the menu, I would have a riot," said Eisenhauer.

Chocolate Therapy in Framingham and Dedham puts an adult twist on the traditional candy shop, offering hand-made chocolates spiked with superfoods and antioxidants, like dark chocolate infused with cinnamon, bay leaf, and cayenne. These sweets are good for circulatory health, headaches and arthritis, among others.

At 2 Ovens in Shrewsbury, the house specialties are creative flatbread pizzas and oven-roasted chicken wings. But dessert is a must-order, especially the made-from-scratch chocolate chip cookies, straight out of the brick oven.

And arguably Boston's most famous spot for sweets: Mike's Pastry in the North End. They will now serve their famous cannoli at a second bakery in Harvard Square.

For more food and fun, watch the Phantom Gourmet Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 AM and 11 AM on MyTV38.
