Keller @ Large: Time To Look In The Mirror?

BOSTON (CBS) - Just one week to go until Election Day, and boy, are the voters angry.

At least, 68-percent of them are according to the latest CNN poll. Thirty-eight percent are "somewhat angry," and 30-percent are "very angry."

Sounds like a Red Sox-Yankees game.

But who are they angry at?

The president, certainly. Congress, definitely. The CNN survey says it's bi-partisan anger.

As these angry voters gear up to get even in the voting booth, maybe there's another appropriate target, looking back at them from a mirror.

Do you rarely vote? Then don't complain about outsourcing, because you've outsourced your own say on it.

Have you always voted with some idea of who the candidates are and what they really stand for? No wonder you're so often disappointed.

Have you always voted the party and not the person? How's endless partisanship working for you?

When we vote out of ignorance, or laziness, it seems we get out of government what we've put in. Then, in two or, at most, four years, we're so disgusted with what we created that we throw it out and start over with new recruits.

The cycle never ends, because we're the source of our own anger.

If you're one of those diligent citizens who votes thoughtfully, congratulations, you and your children are our hope for the future. You have the right to be angry over the mess we've made.

For the rest, it's time to look in the mirror.
