Lamarr Houston Suffers Torn ACL After Celebrating Sack Late In Blowout Loss To Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Chicago Bears were in the midst of an embarrassing loss in New England. Then, Lamarr Houston picked up a sack, and Lamarr Houston was happy.

And then, Lamarr Houston's season was over.

The Bears' defensive lineman suffered a torn ACL, an injury sustained during a leaping celebration following his sack of backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Patriots were leading 48-23 when Houston sacked Garoppolo with a little more than three minutes remaining in the game. It was Houston's first sack of the season and the 17th of his five-year career.

Immediately, Houston's celebration, which saw him leap into the air with his arms folded before landing with authority and stretching out his arms, drew comparisons to Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch's near-identical celebration from earlier in the season. Tulloch's celebration, which came after a sack of Aaron Rodgers, also ended his season.

Bears head coach Marc Trestman didn't offer much in the way of an opinion when asked for his feelings on a player getting injured during a celebration.

"As I said, he has got a knee and I'm disappointed for him," Trestman said after the Bears' 51-23 loss in New England.
