Adam Jones: Patriots-Jets Rivalry Is Outdated
BOSTON (CBS) - There's a common thread we've heard all week leading up to Patriots-Jets on Thursday Night Football.
"Yeah they're 1-5, and yeah they're quarterbacked by Geno Smith, but the Jets always seem to play the Patriots tough."
That statement may have been true early in Rex Ryan's infancy with the Jets, but not so much anymore according to 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones.
Adam Jones became Adam Savage Wednesday night a la Mythbusters and debunked this misguided perception by looking at the data, and proving this rivalry is a thing of the past.
"The first couple of years with Rex down there that assessment was accurate. You look at that first season and the Patriots split with New York. The second season, 2010, they split in the regular season and then famously lost the playoff game 28-21 here in New England. Since then it's been borderline domination by the Patriots. They've won five out of six, including sweeps in 2011 and 2012, and the only one they lost was that game last year with the crap call on the field goal in overtime. That's it. That's the only game the Patriots lost out of their last six to the Jets. It's an outdated perception."

By all indications, New England fans may get to see cornerback Brandon Browner for the first time this season Thursday night.
Browner said earlier this week he's "itching" to go, and given the Jets' lack of offensive firepower it could prove to be a very favorable matchup.
