Summer Clothes For One More Day?

What month is it again? Oh right, it's October…but yesterday's highs were normal for late August, and we'll do it again today with temperatures climbing well into the 70s under partial sunshine.  Crisp fall air is nowhere in sight either…dewpoints will continue to rise and you'll feel the mugginess outside today.

This warmth and humidity comes ahead of a front responsible for severe weather over the past couple of days from the Southern Plains to the Southeast.

That front arrives to southern New England late tomorrow.  While I'm not expecting widespread thunderstorms here at home, there may be some embedded rumbles of thunder as the disturbance comes through, accompanied by brief gusty wind and localized flooding.

Timeline: Showers develop as early as overnight tonight, filling in as a steadier rain gradually from west to east during the late morning into the afternoon tomorrow. Heavier elements of rain will likely impact the evening commute, lingering overnight as some tropical moisture associated with Hurricane Gonzalo gets pulled into the region.

Rainfall totals: There is still a bit of uncertainty as to how much rain will fall – but in general, I'd say 1-2" is a good bet, with locally higher amounts.

A bit of moisture may linger into early on Friday morning in eastern MA before less humid air moves in along with emerging sunshine.

Wet weather gear is a must if you're headed to Foxboro for the Pats vs. Jets!
