NightSide - Worcester Housing Authority Executive Director Ray Mariano

BOSTON (CBS) - Worcester Housing Authority Executive Director Ray Mariano thought he had developed a strong reform program for public housing residents in Worcester entitled, "A Better Life." The program would have required able-bodied public housing residents to try to find a job or go to school to help improve their lives in order to maintain their public housing residence. The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) originally approved the plan, yet when Worcester announced the changes, HUD pulled the rug out from underneath the program and rescinded their approval. Mariano is in studio to talk about this blindside blow to the proposed reform.

Originally broadcast October 14th, 2014.
