Brad Stevens: Jeff Green's Absence Creating Opportunities For Others

BOSTON (CBS) - Friday afternoon on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens joined Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak to talk all things Green.

The C's are two games into the 2014-15 preseason, and they've posted a 2-0 record without the likes of Jeff Green, who is dealing with a strained left calf.

The calf is not considered a long term ailment, but head coach Brad Stevens expressed some frustration with Gresh & Zo about not having him in there. However, his absence has also provided an avenue for other players to showcase their skills.

"I think if it goes past this week, certainly the frustration will mount more," said Stevens. "But it's given great opportunities for other guys to play. The way that I look at it is if Jeff and [Rajon] Rondo, when they get back to playing, if they can continue to do what they've always done, and get right into this thing, then we've got a chance to be playing good basketball at the start of the season. That's ultimately what we want to be doing, because the start of our season we play some contenders early on."

Stevens also talked about the two rookies, Marcus Smart and James Young, and much more.
