Daily Talker: Big Raise For City Councilors

On Wednesday, the Boston City Council voted to give itself a $20,000 raise starting in 2016.  The initial proposal was $25,000.  Mayor Marty Walsh still needs to approve the raise but has said he would veto it.  However, a two-thirds vote by councilors would override his veto.  While it may seem to be a big raise, some councilors cited the cost of living in Boston.  Tito Jackson told the Boston Globe that his current salary of $87,500 was a "subscription to poverty".  The raise would give Boston city councilors roughly the same salary as city councilors in New York City.  What do you think of Boston city councilors voting to give themselves a $20,000 raise?
