'Polite' Man Wanted In String Of Woburn, Winchester Home Break-Ins

WOBURN (CBS) – Winchester and Woburn police are searching for a suspect who they describe as "polite" when he breaks into homes in the early morning hours.

The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic or light-skinned African American man who is about six feet tall with black marks on his face.

After receiving reports of break-ins in Winchester and Woburn, police conferred and determined that they believe the same person is responsible for incidents over the last several weeks.

During each break-in, the suspect allegedly entered homes in the early morning hours through windows in the first floor or basement.

When the homes have been occupied during the break-ins, police said the behavior of the man is similar.

Homeowners reported that the man works alone, and when confronted by residents he is very polite and apologetic before running away, police said.

Despite this behavior, Woburn and Winchester police said residents should be aware that the man is considered dangerous and his behavior may escalate.

"Outward behavior should not lull residents into a false sense of security. This is a dangerous felon who breaks into people's homes, often while they are asleep inside," Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said. "If anyone recognizes this individual or has knowledge of his crimes, please call the police department."

Anyone with information on the break-ins  is asked to call Woburn Police at (781) 933-1212 or Winchester Police at (781) 729-1212.
