Bruins Place David Krejci On Injured Reserve

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins will be without their top center when they kick off the 2014-15 NHL season against the Philadelphia Flyers.

David Krejci was placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday night, which means he will be out at least a week.

Krejci suffered an undisclosed injury in Boston's preseason finale on Saturday, an injury head coach Claude Julien termed as "very, very minor." But he hasn't healed as quickly as the team had hoped, and when asked about the injury at media day on Tuesday, Krejci said the team would take a cautious approach.

"I would say it's kind of day-to-day," said Krejci. "We'll see when I wake up tomorrow and how it feels tomorrow."

"We were told originally it was really a minor injury so we didn't think much of it. It hasn't healed as well as we thought it would," said Julien. "As far as tomorrow, we'll have to see how he feels. It's one of those injuries that could be a questionable one and we'll have to reassess with our trainers."

Without their top-line center the Bruins had Carl Soderberg centering Loui Eriksson and Chris Kelly, with Milan Lucic skating with Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser at Tuesday's practice.

Krejci led all of Boston's scorers last season with 69 points (19 goals, 50 assists) in 80 games.
