Patriots Activate Brandon Browner, Brian Tyms

BOSTON (CBS) -- After serving four-week suspensions and taking another week to get up to speed, Brandon Browner and Brian Tyms are ready for their Patriots debuts.

The Patriots confirmed on Monday that they will activate the cornerback and receiver in advance of their Week 6 game in Buffalo.

In order to make room on the roster for Browner and Tyms, the team released defensive lineman Joe Vellano and placed defensive lineman Michael Buchanan on injured reserve

Browner, 30, is in his first season in New England after playing three seasons for Seattle. He intercepted 10 passes in 36 games for the Seahawks, while forcing three fumbles and recording 117 tackles.

Tyms, 25, has played in just seven career NFL games. He has just two receptions for 12 yards, but he showed promising signs in the preseason for the Patriots, when he caught 11 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

In other roster news, Kenbrell Thompkins -- who was released by the Patriots on Saturday -- was claimed off waivers by Oakland. That means a New England reunion won't be happening any time soon for the receiver.
