Zolak: ‘Worst A** Whooping I’ve Seen This Team Take’ Under Belichick

BOSTON (CBS) – 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak started off Tuesday’s show hot when it came to “the worst loss since Bill Belichick got here in 2000.”

Gresh said that the Patriots’ 41-14 loss in Kansas City against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football was, “even worse than 31-0 in Buffalo when you cut Lawyer Milloy, and even worse than going to Cleveland and getting beat by Eric Mangini’s Cleveland Browns.”

The 27-point loss was the second biggest loss in the Belichick-Brady era and was ugly for all to watch. Zo went on to say how the flight home was dead and that it should have been.

“I’m glad they’re embarrassed,” Zo said about the poor showing.

Still fuming from the loss, Gresh and Zo promised to discuss the game and the team’s issues in a fair, reasonable way.

They started by defending quarterback Tom Brady, explaining that Tom knew he this team was in trouble even after the week two blowout win in Minnesota.

“He knew that this was on the horizon,” Zo said in regards to why Brady has been so frustrated in recent weeks. “Brady knew they would be in trouble once they played a good defense, which is what happened last night. I wanted to see if they got a pulse, that they got some heart. I didn’t see that at any point last night. That’s what pisses me off the most.”

This sets up for a very important week of practice. Gresh and Zo hope that fighting spirit comes back.

Another talking point that clearly angered Zo was the simple fact that the media and fans are all pointing to the offensive side of the ball as the problem.

“This just isn’t an offensive game, folks. Your defense got their asses kicked,” Zo explained.

Looking forward, the team has just five days to fix itself before Cincinnati, one of the best teams in the AFC, comes to Foxboro. It could be another long night for the Patriots if they can’t fix both sides of the ball.
