Boston Police Seek Suspects In Armed Robberies At Jamaica Pond

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Police put out a community alert after two armed robberies on the foot path around Jamaica Pond.

The victims all said the attackers were two men in their early twenties armed with a knife and a gun, and they fled on foot.

Both robberies occurred on Wednesday, September 24th, between 11:00 and 11:30PM. In the first case, a group of friends were walking when they were approached and searched. In the second case, a man said he was walking with his bicycle when he was forced into a wooded area, robbed and tied to a tree.

Maria Ramirez walks around the pond. She said she never goes on the trail at night and wishes there were posted notices about the armed robberies. Many people using the path say they feel safe in the area especially during the day, but now they are staying more alert.

Marc Pelletier who cycles through the area said he received an email from a fellow cyclist warning him of the risk.

"I'll probably avoid paths and stay on the streets more," said Pelletier.
