Rosevelt Colvin On Toucher & Rich: Arrowhead Stadium Always A Tough Challenge
BOSTON (CBS) - Going on the road and winning in the National Football League is no small task, especially in front of the raucous Kansas City crowd and their reputation as being one of the loudest fans in the league.
Former Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin spoke Friday morning on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich about some of the challenges playing at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs, which the Patriots have to do this week on Monday Night Football.
As a defensive player in an away game, you're typically working in a quiet environment, because the crowd wants to give their home offense every advantage to communicate effectively.
For Colvin, his job was to make sure the crowd had nothing to cheer about, so that the enthusiasm wouldn't carry over into the next possession for the home defense.
It's a lot different for the offense on the road, which Colvin says coach Belichick is more than prepared for.
"I'm pretty sure Bill has pumped in noise and music in practice all week long. Silent counts are going to be heavy and often. It's an opportunity where guys have to focus. You have to give 110 percent of your focus to knowing the snap count, so you don't give up a false start or a free sack," explained Colvin.
"The crowd noise, and being amped -- obviously playing the Patriots always entices fans and teams to play well because of the history of the team -- but it's always a tough challenge [in Kansas City]. Arrowhead is a unique and classic place to play in. It's Monday night. I'm sure they're going to be selling alcohol, so the fans are going to be excited."
