Pickup Driver Sought After North Andover Woman Killed In I-495 Hit And Run

NORTH ANDOVER (CBS) – State police are seeking the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed a North Andover woman early Monday morning.

Massachusetts State Police were called to Interstate 495 in North Andover at about 3:40 a.m., where they said Robin L. Mendonca, 48, was walking in the road when she was hit by a pickup truck on the northbound side of the road.

After hitting the woman, the truck continued driving, according to police.

Police described the pickup truck as a later model black or dark-colored vehicle with Massachusetts plates and running boards.

Investigators do not currently have a plate number for the truck. Police added that the truck will likely have front end damage.

Troopers searched for an abandoned vehicle that the victim may have driven to the area but did not locate one.

The circumstances of the crash, including why Mendonca was on the road when she was struck, remain under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Massachusetts State Police Andover barracks by calling (978) 475-3800.
