Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Week 3 Waiver Wire

BOSTON (CBS) - Week 2 is in the books, and now the focus has shifted towards the Thursday night game between Atlanta and Tampa Bay to kick off Week 3.

But before that, fantasy owners are perusing the waiver wire and trying to one-up their opponents by adding a contributor to their roster.

Every night during the NFL season on 98.5 The Sports Hub's The Adam Jones Show, Rich Keefe breaks down the fantasy world.

On the latest installment of the fantasy brief, Keefe clues us in who to target on the wire, based on position and priority.

"The obvious one at running back is Knile Davis of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was already drafted in a lot of leagues as a handcuff, but some owners in my leagues drafted him, got impatient and cut him before Week 2," said Keefe. "He's not Jamaal Charles, but they still give him the ball almost as much. Plus he's got a nose for the endzone. He should be no. 1 on your waiver, even if Charles returns. You wonder how effective Charles will be with that high ankle sprain."

With Mark Ingram injured, the next ball carrier Keefe advises to target on the waiver wire is Saints second-year back Khiry Robinson.

"If you remember Khiry Robinson in the playoffs last year, he was terrific," said Keefe, who added, "I think Khiry Robinson is a guy you can put in and maybe even play this week if you need him."

With Doug Martin out, Bobby Rainey of Tampa Bay is another good pickup candidate.

"Bobby Rainey is another good option. Plus he has a favorable matchup this week against Atlanta," said Keefe.

Donald Brown of San Diego, a former UConn product who's shown flashes of excellence during his time in Indianapolis, is going to see a rise in touches now that Ryan Mathews is out five weeks with an MCL sprain. Danny Woodhead's role is already established, so Brown will be that first and second down, between-the-tackles type of back.

Keefe says that while Davis and Rainey might be better players, Robinson and Brown could prove to be the better fantasy options given their respective team's injury situation.
