Lawrence Man Hit By Lightning: 'The Pain Was Unbelievable'

BOSTON (CBS) - Three people are recovering after they were hit by lightning over the weekend.

Two women were struck at Crane Beach in Ipswich Saturday and a Lawrence man was also hit while emptying a trash barrel at work.

The women are in critical condition as Massachusetts General Hospital. Their names are not being released, but they identified as a 69-year-old from Concord and a 61-year-old from North Grosvenor Dale, Conn.

The man who was hit, a father of six, talked to WBZ-TV about his experience.

"The pain was unbelievable. Unbelievable. I couldn't wish it on anybody in my life," Eric Ibell said.

"I was hit in the thumb here and it traveled up my arm, my whole arm went numb but I have some nerve damage inside my right shoulder that I have to have checked," he said.

"It's just a weird burning numbness inside my shoulder," Ibell told WBZ the day after he was hit.

"Just a little shooken up knowing that I, I could have died."
