Winthrop Man Charged With Shooting Fireworks From Boat Near Logan Airport

BOSTON (CBS) – State Police arrested a Winthrop man who they said was shooting off fireworks from a boat not far from Logan Airport on Monday night.

Steven A. Hines, 52, was charged on an outstanding warrant and also arrested for unlawful possession of fireworks.

At about 5:45 p.m. Monday troopers on a police boat behind Logan Airport say they spotted Hines shooting off fireworks from his boat near a runway.

Troopers seized a large bag of fireworks from Hines' boat.

He was also issued two equipment violations for not having a working horn or visual distress signals on his boat.

According to police, there was never any threat or danger to planes flying in or out of Logan as a result of the incident.
