Daily Talker: Goodell’s Mea Culpa

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is now admitting he messed up.  The NFL sent a letter to all 32 teams announcing a new domestic violence policy.  NFL players will be subject to a six-game suspension for a first offense.  And a lifetime banishment from the league for a second offense.

An NFL spokesman told CBS Sports that each case will be addressed individually.

This all comes after Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice got a two-game suspension after police say he knocked his fiancée unconscious at an Atlantic City hotel.  Rice was indicted on one count of aggravated assault.  He was accepted into a pretrial intervention program meaning he would avoid prosecution and possible jail time.  Goodell was criticized for what many considered to be a very lenient punishment.

Is this new policy enough? What is an appropriate punishment for NFL players who commit domestic violence?
