Duxbury Beach Evacuated After Possible Shark Sighting

DUXBURY (CBS) – A Duxbury beach was cleared of swimmers Thursday afternoon after a lifeguard thought he spotted a shark offshore.

Swimmers were ordered out of the water at about 4:00 p.m.

The reported shark sighting is believed to have been a sunfish. The beach was reopened to swimmers at 5:30 p.m. but swimmers were told to stay in shallow water.

On Monday, a great white shark was spotted swimming off the beach in Duxbury. State Police helicopters followed it until it went out into deeper waters.
