Daily Talker: Should Police Departments Have Access To Military-Style Weapons?

The deadly shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old has sparked more than a week of protests. Police and crowds are in a tense standoff in Ferguson, Missouri. The National Guard has been deployed to try to help restore peace and order to the area.

President Obama says most of the protesters are peaceful. But, there are some undermining justice and causing chaos.

An independent autopsy revealed that 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot at least six times, including twice in the head. A pathologist hired by Brown's family says he suffered a bullet wound to his right arm that may indicate his hands were up or his back was turned. But, more information and investigation is still needed.

For the first time, the president is weighing in on the weapons some local police departments are using. And calling for an examination into how federal grant dollars are being used to give some local police departments military-style equipment.
