Daily Talker: Man Charged For Driving Maserati Painted Like Police Cruiser

BOSTON (CBS) - A man from Braintree is in trouble with the law, because police say his Maserati looked too much like a police cruiser.

Braintree Deputy Police Chief Wayne Foster tells the Patriot Ledger the man was pulled over in Braintree Square over the weekend, and has been summoned to court on a charge of impersonating a police officer.

His Maserati was painted black and white with a police-style shield on the doors. The car also had 911, k-9, and speed enforcement decals. It did not have police-style lights on the top.

Foster told the Patriot Ledger the driver said he believed he was helping police, "because other drivers noticed him and slowed down, thinking it was a police vehicle."

The side of the $100,000 Italian luxury car also had the words "Decepticons punish and enslave," instead of the more common motto of "protect and serve."

Should this man be facing charges for impersonating an officer, or is he just practicing freedom of speech? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m.
