5 Years Of 98.5 The Sports Hub: The Best Of Felger & Mazz

BOSTON (CBS) - It's hard to believe it's been half of a decade, but 98.5 The Sports Hub is turning five years old this week.

To help ring in this special occasion, we're reliving all the classic moments from each show -- handpicked by the on-air staff!

So without further ado, here's the Best Of Felger & Massarotti:

From September 2013:

After Gresh & Zolak, Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti rush to clean and disinfect the studio before going on air at 2pm as they often leave it in an utter mess.

Well one afternoon Tony Mazz was none too pleased to find donut frosting, or something of the like on the keyboard that Zo was just using.

Naturally, Hardy used this audio to create a classic Squeaky Mazz, listen below!

Felger & Mazz Hold Billy Cundiff Field Goal Contest

From January 24, 2012:

Think you could have made the 32-yard field goal that Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed at the end of Sunday's game?

On Monday, Mike Felger guaranteed that he could.

"I guarantee you I'm 5-for-5 on that kick," Felger said on Monday's Felger & Mazz show.

Felger then hashed out a plan to show just how easy that 32-yard field goal should have been for Cundiff.

"We're all going to kick from 32 yards. I guarantee you half of us will make it. When you get there and you see how close it is, how wide the goal, and how you cannot miss that kick, it is going to put it into perspective just how much of a gag that was by the Baltimore Ravens," Felger said Monday.

So, Felger, Tony Massarotti and Marc Bertrand, joined by 98.5 The Sports Hub producers Billy Lanni and Jimmy Stewart, all attempted the kick at a field in Watertown on Tuesday at around noon.

From May 28, 2013:

Bully Ray, the leader of Aces and Eights and the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion, will be defending the championship in a No-Holds-Barred match this weekend.

If he defeats Sting in the match, Sting can no longer challenge for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. Bully Ray talked about the upcoming match, the Aces and Eights takeover project, and why his wife Brooke Hogan isn't at his side supporting him?

Also, Felger & Mazz producer James Stewart insults Bully Ray right at the start -- putting everyone in a great mood.

From January 24, 2013:

Thursday on the Final Word with Marc Bertrand, Frank the Tank called in and wants people to pump the breaks about Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton. Katie Couric asked Manti Te'o if he was gay, and Te'o denied it.

Finally, Mazz gets a little too excited complaining about Phil Mickelson. This has happened before.

Felger & Mazz Shoot Penalty Kicks On Revs Goalie Larry Jackson

From July 2, 2014:

Prior to the U.S. getting eliminated from the World Cup, soccer was, naturally, a major talking point on the Felger & Massarotti program in recent weeks. Michael Felger, Tony Massarotti and Marc Bertrand were all taken by the sport to various degrees, but they all wondered: Exactly how hard is it to score on a penalty kick?

The guys came to this question after the World Cup reached the knockout stage, where games were determined by a PK shootout if the first 120 minutes of action couldn't determine a winner. Watching on TV, it certainly looks easy. But just how easy?

To find out, the crew headed down to Gillette Stadium to try their luck against New England Revolution backup goalkeeper Larry Jackson.

From March 31, 2011, original air date unknown:

Today on The Final Word with Marc Bertrand, Felger and Mazz offer up some media criticism.

Felger was very excited about the start of the Brewers 2011 season, but ended up woefully disappointed with the finish to their season opener.

Also, we bring back some classic audio of Billy Lanni talking about Manny Ramirez.

Tony Mazz Berates Scott Zolak For His Cake-Eating Etiquette

From March 27, 2012:

Sometimes, there are some nice treats waiting for the 98.5 The Sports Hub crew.

However, sometimes not everyone is able to enjoy those nice treats.

Take Tony Massarotti for example. With a nice cake sitting in the Hub's lunch room, he witnessed Scott Zolak treating it as more of a snack buffet, rather than cutting himself a piece.

Mazz took exception to it.

From March 10, 2011:

Felger & Massarotti did a simulcast with the Ric Peterson Show on CJAD in Montreal to discuss the Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty.

Felger and Mazz let the guys in Montreal know the feeling around here when it comes to the Chara hit. Why charge Zdeno Chara? Don't hits like this happen in hockey? Where was the call to action on other hits?

Why haven't charges been brought against Canadiens for some of their past hits?

Did Chara know what he was doing? Did he mean to do it?

From January 25, 2012 on Toucher & Rich:

By now everyone has heard about Bruins goalie skipping the team's visit to the White House because of his feelings about the government. Everyone seems to have an opinion on the story, but one person at the station has a very interesting stance on the matter.

Tony Massarotti said if you don't agree with the way this country is being run then you can leave, go to Canada or Finland. So of course Toucher & Rich had a little fun with Tony's comments.
