President Wraps Day 2 Of Vineyard Vacation With Golf

OAK BLUFFS (CBS) - Security was tight at a seaside home in Oak Bluffs where the First Lady and daughter Malia were spotted Sunday afternoon.

Neighbors say the home is rented by White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.

"We saw the First Lady which was nice to see her visiting some friends," said Mark Karl, who is renting the home next door.  "Adds to the excitement of the vacation."

Malia was in and out of the home several times all afternoon.

A tourist spotted her getting ice cream downtown.

"What a beautiful child she is," said Elizabeth Maciolek of Centerville, who says Malia turned down a photo request.

Malia, full of energy as she chatted with friends, even appeared to offer up a wave to the WBZ-TV camera.

Eventually, Mrs. Obama, wearing sunglasses, a grey top and shorts, took off hopping into an SUV as the crowd at a nearby restaurant cheered.

"She looked happy," said Jeanne Taylor, a tourist who saw Mrs. Obama as she emerged from the home. "She looked refreshed."

Meantime, the president was on the links two days in a row, both times at Farm Neck Golf Club.

As the Obamas make the rounds, several island businesses are trying to profit from the hoopla.

At Mad Martha's, the ice cream parlor's flavor of the week is a tribute to the president. And they're hoping that may draw in the Obama family when they are on the move.

"It's espresso ice cream with caramel swirl and macadamia nuts," said owner Patti Roberts. "We know that he enjoys coffee and the macadamias are a little Hawaiian flair."
