Murder Suspect Captured After Falling From Tobin Bridge

CHELSEA, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts state police say a car chase that began in Chelsea ended on the Tobin Bridge when the suspect stopped his car and fell from the span, landing on construction safety net that prevented him from plunging into the Mystic River.

State Police Trooper Dustin Fitch says the suspect suffered serious leg injuries after landing near the lower deck of the two-deck bridge Saturday morning.

WBZ-AM reports that the police chase was sparked by a Malden police asked other agencies to look out for a suspect who allegedly tried to kill a relative in the city.

Chelsea police spotted the suspect’s vehicle that fled the scene, triggering a police chase.

WBZ-AM say Chelsea police identified the suspect at 49-year-old Mustafa Laassal. He could not be immediately reached for comment in hospital.
