Gresh & Zo's 2014 NFL Summer School: New York Giants

BOSTON (CBS) - It's not your typical classroom. They're not your typical teachers. It's where you go after failing all year. It's Gresh and Zo's NFL Summer School on 98.5 The Sports Hub!

The summer school tour rolls on and heads to the Big Apple, where Andy Gresh and Mike Flynn break down and preview the upcoming 2014 season for the New York Giants.

Taking Attendance:

The New York Giants lost Hakeem Nicks to free agency and offensive lineman Chris Snee called it a career by retiring in the offseason. They added offensive guard Geoff Schwartz, running back Rashad Jennings and cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond via free agency. They also drafted LSU wideout Odell Beckham Jr.

Gresh: "As usual, a solid job for the Giants. They're like the Patriots, the Colts, the Ravens and a lot of other teams in that they're smart in free agency. They added depth at the corner spot and got a high-end guy in [Cromartie]. They also added depth at running back in Rashad Jennings, and David Wilson hurts his neck so he'll have a lot of playing time. Offensive line, I think they need to get that situation calmed down."

Flynn: "The offense needs to get right. They have a new offensive coordinator. It's going to be a different system that Eli needs to figure out and that group needs to get right. They did a good job in that first preseason game, but it's the Buffalo Bills so everyone looks good against them. They made some additions in the offseason, but how does that offensive line gel?"

Pop Quiz:

How long is the leash for Tom Coughlin as Giants head coach?

Gresh: "People keep asking this? I don't see them running him. They're a loyal organization and he's brought them two world championships."

Flynn: "They actually win when he's on the hot seat. Whenever you think Tom Coughlin is toast the guys end up winning. I'd be shocked. Unless it's a total disaster, but I would think in that division it's always up for grabs. A different team wins it every year. They're going to compete in that division so that's why I don't think he gets canned."

Fantasy 101:

Which Giants running back emerges as a lead fantasy contributor?

Gresh: "I'm starting to wonder if rookie Andre Williams from Boston College is the guy. When you're the starting running back of the Giants you have the chance to run for a bunch of yards and a bunch of touchdowns. That's Tom Coughlin football. Rashad Jennings will be the starter, but I wonder if Williams will get the job later on."

Flynn: "Both are big, physical guys but I'd go with Jennings."

What is Victor Cruz's value as a fantasy receiver?

Gresh: "He's a no. 1 or a no. 2. It's that simple. He's on your roster and a guy you'd expect to have 85 catches. I don't know that the touchdowns will be as high as they've been, but he's a guy you have to stamp."

Final Grade:

Last year's team went 7-9. Year before that? 9-7. Vegas has the over/under at 8.5 wins. Where do they finish and do they make the playoffs?

Gresh: "I don't think they make the playoffs, but hit me I think they are over. They might be a 10-win team that gets squeezed out of the NFC playoffs this year."

Flynn: "I will go over and I'm gonna say no playoffs."
