Carver Man Charged With Motor Vehicle Homicide Of Halifax Man

CARVER (CBS) – State Police arrested a 26-year-old Carver man on Sunday and charged him with motor vehicle homicide after he allegedly struck and killed another man.

Andrew Best is charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in death, according to State Police. He is being held without bail schedule to be arraigned on Monday in Wareham District Court.

Police arrested him after investigating the death of Shane Reilly, 36, of Halifax. At around 130 a.m. on Sunday, State Police responded to a report of a dead man laying in the road near on Route 44 West west of Rt. 80, according to State Police. The body was laying near a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Police identified Halifax as the motorcycle's driver.

The preliminary police investigation determined Reilly had been struck by another car that had left the scene.
