Daily Talker: Battling Market Basket Ads

After the CEO's of Market Basket ran newspaper ads announcing job fairs next week to replace any workers who refuse to come back to work. loyal customers are responding with an ad of their own with a message for the board of directors.

"It is your customers who bring in the money. It is your customers who are the bottom line," the customer-bought ad reads in part. It will run in Saturday's edition of the Lowell Sun.

Customer Denise Walsh created a campaign on the website Gofundme.com to raise money to pay for the ad. Within hours, it raised the $10,000 needed to pay for the ad, with more donations still coming in.

"I'm feeling great. I can't believe the amount of support," Walsh told WBZ News.

"They can go and hire as many [workers] as they want, but if they don't have customers to come in and shop it doesn't matter," said graphic artist Christa Lamb, who designed the ad.

Do you think the ad placed by these customers will make a difference in what moves the Market Basket board make next? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning between 4:30 and 7:00 a.m.
