Gresh & Socci Chat With Shane Vereen, Duron Harmon After Patriots Practice

BOSTON (CBS) - On Tuesday afternoon's Gresh & Zolak show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Andy Gresh and the voice of the Patriots Bob Socci got the chance to chat with fourth-year running back Shane Vereen and second-year safety Duron Harmon.

First up was Vereen, coming off what appeared to Socci as the most intense day of camp so far.

"Today was pretty intense," said Vereen. "We got after it pretty good offensively and defensively. The defense came out very hungry today, so in turn the offense had to retaliate and come back even stronger."

Vereen followed that up and called the dynamic between the two units a "healthy competition" and relishes the opportunity to raise his level of play.

The former Cal Golden Bear spent the offseason improving on every facet of the game -- running the ball, catching the ball and pass protecting, saying, "All three areas needed improvement."

Vereen told Gresh and Socci that he's not worried about his contract (up at the end of the season), and he can only worry about his play on the field. He also added that he's really looking forward to facing his brother Brock, a safety for the Chicago Bears, in Week 8 on October 26.

Harmon joined in shortly after and detailed the camaraderie the secondary group is experiencing, and is "trying to soak up as much knowledge" from veterans Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner.

Listen below for both interviews (Harmon starts at 6:05):
