BOSTON (CBS) – Mayor Marty Walsh heads west Thursday to meet with the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs to talk about Boston’s potential bid for the 2024 summer games.
Walsh told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 this is a preliminary informational meeting “to find out the parameters, what’s expected of a city that would host an Olympics” and discuss “what we would have to do to be competitive in the bid.”
The mayor says it’ll give him a chance to see how serious other U.S. cities are about making a bid.
Los Angeles, Washington and San Francisco are also interested in hosting the 2024 games.
Officials from those cities will also be at the meeting.
“I think Boston is very appealing, as long as it’s right for the residents of the city and for the taxpayers of the city, I think it’s something that we should pursue,” Walsh said.
