BOSTON (CBS) — The Boston Bruins will appear on national television a league-high 17 times during the 2014-15 season, the NHL announced on Tuesday.

The league released their national TV schedule for the upcoming season, and the Bruins will get it all started on Wednesday, October 8 with a rivalry game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Including their season opener, Boston will be featured on NBC Sports Network’s “Wednesday Night Rivalry” seven times, with matchups against the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals and Minnesota Wild. The Wednesday night slate does not feature a Bruins-Canadiens showdown, though the two teams will appear on national TV for a Sunday night game in February.

Of the 17 Bruins games that will be televised nationally, five of them will air locally on NESN here in Boston.
