BOSTON (CBS) — The New England Patriots have signed defensive lineman Eathyn Manumaleuna, the team announced on Monday.
Manumaleana, a 6-foot-2, 305-pound rookie free agent out of BYU, finished his college career with 143 total tackles and 5.5 sacks in 56 games. He played as a true freshman in 2007 and then served a two-year mission before returning to the Cougars’ starting lineup in 2010. He was granted a medical redshirt year after he suffered an injury early in the year as a senior in 2012, and started all 13 games in 2013.
To make room for Manumaleana on the roster, the Patriots released rookie free agent Seali’i Epenesa.
