Investigation Continues Into Crashed Hot Air Balloon In Clinton

CLINTON (CBS) – The investigation continued Sunday into what caused a hot air balloon to strike power lines and crash in Clinton on Saturday night.

The balloon crashed around 7:40 p.m. after it struck some power lines and caused outages in nearby neighborhoods.

At least five of the six people on board suffered burns of various degrees. On Sunday, police were still guarding the balloon basket as it sat in the Clinton yard on which it crashed.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.

The balloon, named Raspberry Ripple has had trouble in the past. In 2012, the balloon got struck in a tree in Northboro. Nobody was hurt. In 2010, it landed on the front lawn of a home in Shrewsbury. Nobody was hurt in that incident.
