BOSTON (CBS) – A rare early July hurricane, Hurricane Arthur, whirled toward Southern New England Friday bringing heavy rains with totals in some parts of the region to reach 8 to 10 inches.
The Category 1 hurricane had lost some of its punch after hitting North Carolina as a Category 2, but its biggest impact came not from winds but the heavy rain.
