Peabody Mom Pleads For Return Of Angel Statues To Daughter's Grave

PEABODY (CBS) - A Peabody mother is pleading with whoever stole mementos from her daughter's grave site to do the right thing and return them.

Last week, Annmarie Scheiding discovered somebody had taken angel figurines, stuffed animals and other items from her daughter's grave site at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Peabody.

Scheiding's daughter, Stephanie, was 10 years old when she died 10 years ago from a rare form of kidney disease.

"I'm kind of hoping it was little kids not knowing right from wrong [who stole the items]," said Scheiding. "I'm hoping it wasn't an adult."

Items were recently taken from the grave site of Stephanie Scheiding (Facebook photo).

Scheiding, who visits the grave every day, said she will replace the items, but is still hopeful that the originals will be returned.

"Taking care of her gardening, going up there every day is still taking care of my daughter," Scheiding said. "Even though she is not here... I can go up there and do the garden and make things look really nice."
