Toddler, Dad, Dog Struck In Crosswalk By SUV In Winchester

WINCHESTER (CBS) - A toddler and her father were injured and a dog was killed when an SUV plowed through a crosswalk in Winchester on Sunday morning, police said.

Winchester police Lt. Peter MacDonald says the 3-year-old girl was in a stroller being pushed by her 72-year-old father around 9:15 a.m. The two were crossing the road near Fletcher and Church Street, along with a dog, when they were struck.

"It appears that dad and his daughter were walking a little dog that was on a leash, and the dog did not survive the incident," MacDonald told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

The father and daughter were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. Police say both injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was interviewed by police. It wasn't immediately clear if she is expected to face charges.
