Chelsea Man Died After Struggle With Officers
BOSTON (AP) — Boston prosecutors say a disturbed 56-year-old man died after struggling with police called to check on him at a Chelsea rooming house.
The Suffolk district attorney's office said Friday that state police are investigating the death of Dominic Graffeo on Thursday night.
Prosecutors said a maintenance supervisor called police, saying a resident was behaving erratically and destroying property in his room. Police said the man barricaded himself inside, and they saw through a window he was bleeding from arm and leg injuries. Police said he became violent after police and firefighters broke into his room.
Graffeo became unresponsive after officers tried to subdue him with a Taser and handcuffed him. The emergency responders thought he might have overdosed on an opiate and gave him the Narcan antidote. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
