MIDDLEBORO (CBS) – A man was killed Thursday morning on Interstate 495 in Middleboro when his car hit a bridge abutment, state police said.
At about 10:20 a.m. the driver apparently lost control while traveling southbound and veered off the left side of the road and struck the abutment, state police said.
State police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The left lane of I-495 southbound was closed in the aftermath of the crash and state police said traffic backed up more than 2 miles before noon.
No further information was available on the crash, which is under investigation by state police.
