Convicted Molester's Wife Sentenced For Endangering Kids At Wakefield Day Care

WOBURN (AP) – The wife of a man charged with sexually molesting several children at her unlicensed day care center has been sentenced to five years in jail.

Marian Burbine of Wakefield was also sentenced Monday to 10 years of probation and barred from having contact with children under 16.

The 48-year-old woman pleaded guilty June 13 to multiple counts of reckless endangerment of a child and operating an unlicensed day care.

Relatives of the children asked for a harsh sentence, saying she had shown no remorse. The prosecutor says she fed her husband "a buffet of children" to molest.

Burbine's lawyer said she has shown "a great deal of remorse."

John Burbine died at a hospital in March after a jailhouse suicide attempt. He had pleaded not guilty to molesting 13 children.
