Teenage Girl Injured In Fall At Abandoned Leicester Mill; Charged With Trespassing

LEICESTER (CBS) - Three underage girls are facing trespassing charges after one of them was injured in a fall inside an abandoned and collapsed mill building.

Leicester police say the three were inside the structure on Chapel Street in Leicester Friday afternoon when one of them fell and suffered serious injuries.

When police and EMT's arrived, the teenage victim had managed to make her way out of the mill, but crews had to cut a lock off a fence in order to reach her.

She was taken to the trauma unit at U-Mass Medical Center for treatment of broken bones and lacerations. She is expected to survive.

Officers noted that the situation could have been much worse. This particular mill is in such a dangerous condition that emergency personnel are only allowed to go in if a life is at stake without immediate action. Police also say there is a high fence with a number of "no trespassing" signs surrounding the property.

Police did not identify the girls, but said all three will be summonsed to Juvenile Court for trespassing.
