Though the pain still lingers, Lloyd's family tries to be strong and is raising money through T-shirt and food sales to fund a scholarship in Odin's name.

"Odin never had a chance to go to college like some young males have. He loved nothing but foofball," said Lloyd's sister, Olivia Thibou. "We wanted to do something to honor him so he has a name besides the guy who was allegedly killed by a former NFL football player.  We wanted to give Odin his own legacy."

The anniversary of Odin Lloyd's death is also an emotional time for members of his semi-pro football team.

Omar Phillip, a former teammate and also Odin Lloyd's cousin, said the whole family is trying to concentrate on Odin's memory and avoid thinking about Hernandez.

" We don't pay attention to it. We just let the justice system work its way and see what happens that's it."

WBZ-TV's Jim Smith contributed to this report.
