Black Bear Sighting Postpones Flag Football Playoff Games In Pelham, NH

PELHAM, N.H. (CBS) - A bear sighting in Pelham, New Hampshire Friday evening forced a kids flag football league to postpone several playoff games. Several people reported seeing the bear just before 8 p.m.

The black bear, described as a larger cub, was seen running back and forth on Nashua Road near the Pelham Funeral Home.

At the time, there were a few hundred parents, fans and flag football players at Lyons Field, which is next door to the funeral home.

After talking with police, the New Hampshire Flag Football league decided to postpone the remainder of the games for the night, and the park was closed for the evening.

Police were expected to re-open the park on Saturday morning assuming there were no further bear sightings.
