Driver Charged In Sharon Jogger Death Has History Of Crashes, Speeding
SHARON (CBS) – A driver with a long history of crashes and speeding tickets has been issued a criminal citation after hitting and killing a jogger in Sharon over the weekend, police said.
Jeffrey Bickoff, 44, of Sharon, was charged Monday with motor vehicle homicide, speeding, driving with a suspended license and a marked lanes violation.
Haley Cremer, 20, of Sharon, was out for a run when she was hit by Bickoff’s SUV on Hampton Road around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to investigators.
Cremer was rushed to Norwood Hospital, where she died.
Simmons College, where Cremer was a student majoring in physical therapy, issued a statement Monday saying, “She had a warm and positive spirit. A friend and classmate described her as always having a smile on her face and a hug for everyone.”
A quote on her Twitter profile said, “wherever one may go, go with all your heart.”
Police said Bickoff was not arrested and a court date has not been set yet.
According to his driving history from the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Bickoff has been issued ten speeding tickets and was found at fault in ten prior accidents before Sunday’s crash.
Bickoff lives with his parents in Sharon and they had no comment for WBZ-TV Monday.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
