Wrentham Police Officer Rescues Overheated Dog Left In Parked Pickup

WRENTHAM (CBS) – Wrentham police came to the rescue of a parched pooch that had been left inside a truck in the heat on Sunday.

Officer Peter Lown broke into the pickup truck to get the dog out of the vehicle parked at the Wrentham Mall, police said.

Lown gave up his own water for the thirsty and overheated pup.

Police remind pet owners that even if they leave water for a dog and open the window a crack, the temperature inside a car rises rapidly and can become deadly.

With summer on the horizon, police recommend leaving your dog at home.
