Trio Accused Of Stealing Clothing From Donation Bins, Selling At Flea Markets

QUINCY (CBS) – Three people accused of stealing clothes from donation bins and selling them at area flea markets are facing charges.

Celestino J.B. Monteiro, Maria A. Elumogo, and Henry Elumogo, all of South Boston, were arrested on Saturday.

Quincy police say the trio had already been on authorities' radar when they showed up the Star Market on Granite Street. An officer sitting in the parking lot followed them to a couple of nearby bins and back to the Star Market. The officer reported witnessing the suspects pull bags of clothing from at least one of the bins.

The suspects initially claimed to be donating clothing, but allegedly admitted to the thefts.

Quincy police say the officer found bags of new and used clothes, including Gucci bags and a Gucci wallet. Police say the used items were returned to the donation bins, while the new ones were retained as evidence.

The trio is charged with receiving stolen property and larceny of property worth more than $250.
